We, the Chorus, join the Orchestra on the Line

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 15, members of the ASO Chorus, an all-volunteer group founded by Robert Shaw over forty years ago, will gather to join the ATL Symphony Musicians on the picket line in support of their beloved orchestra. Participating choristers will sing a portion of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, a work currently planned for the 2014-2015 season. The Symphony Hall performances of the stirring and well-known “Ode to Joy” are in danger of cancellation due to the lockout of the symphony musicians. Instead of rehearsing this work in Symphony Hall, from where symphony players are locked out, the chorus will be singing it in protest on the sidewalk in front of a darkened Woodruff Arts Center. The ASO Chorus supports the ATL Symphony Musicians, and calls on this great city of ours to Save Our Symphony Atlanta!
