What I'm hearing from donors are concerns about quality of management. The embezzlement of over $1 million from WAC, the failure last year of ASO management to meet its goals to the extent Mr. Spano had to step in, and the appropriation of over $20 million to pay down debt instead of investing in the orchestra doesn't inspire much confidence. Poor management decisions and their consequences cannot be fixed with a punishing labor contract.
