Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Locked Out

There must be a 'Guide to Bad Orchestra Management' being passed around.  The link to the Indianapolis Symphony's website tells an eerily similar tale.

The following is a letter to the Indianapolis Symphony Musicians Board of Directors ... written by a long-time supporter of the ISO.

  1. I just read the letter from Ms. Susan Raccoli to the BOD of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. It is eloquent and grimly familiar.

  2. There is some sort of book they are all reading and supposedly following - Flanagan Playbook... ask one of the musicians they know all about it....

  4. No, I believe it is this:

The Perilous Life of Symphony Orchestras" by Robert J. Flanagan copyright 2012.

  5. What I don't understand is the Board approved the salaries such as CEO- how could they allow AV receive the kind of salary she had especially when obviously they were already in debt. Who are they accountable to other than WAC who covers them? The whole thing is quite disturbing.

  6. So very similar to our situation, except that one of their perceived problems is the lack of a CEO. Hmmm......I wonder of we could talk them into taking ours?
